Music quizzes are quite popular. I realized that some time ago, when I compared the number of times, that my online quizzes were taken compared to other quiz categories.

I suddently got the idea, that I would do some research on the global trends for music quizzes as well to see if there was a similar pattern.

I actually didn't get very far down that path, before I stumpled upon a quite remarkable trend for the search term "music quizzes". It happened when I tried to search for "music quizzes" in Google Trends. I have visualized the numbers in this small pocket analysis for you to enjoy.

General trend for music quizzes

If you have read the analysis on the generel trends for online quiz and trivia, you won't be surprised to learn, that there is a similar trend for music quizzes. The chart shows a downward-sloped curve over time just as it was the case for the general keywords.

Seasons for music quizzes

What I think is quite remarkable is that there is a huge peak in the search for music quizzes once every year. Same month every year. And if you haven't guessed it already, you may mouseover to identify which month it is:-)

Got it? Okay, it's Christmas time or maybe New Year's Eve, and it looks like there is a special occasion for music quizzes during the holidays in december.

Once I noticed this pattern there was another variation that puzzled me, and it still does. I can't figure out why there would be an abnormal number of searches for music quizzes in the summer of 2008 - if you have a possible explanation, I would like to hear about it.
